Sammy is tagged...
After Friday's escape we took the opportunity while Sammy was at the vets for a lymes injection to also get him electronically tagged. All was going well until they bought out the tag packet, and the vet said 'they don't usually react or notice.' Well, Sammy certainly noticed - he screeched and struggled for a good 30 seconds while they injected the chip near his shoulders - he nearly jumped out of the assistant's arms! After that he was fine - eating a bribe biscuit in his usual joyful way. We left - we need to do it with Kiltie soon. I wonder if he won't notice too....

Sammy is 2!
Yes, our second westie turned two over the weekend!! He got a new ball from his visiting grandparents, he's eaten cheese and gone for walks/sniffs with Alex & me. He nearly didn't make 2 - since he escaped on Friday morning and was lost for a good ten minutes before he was happily found behind the back of a neighbours house, quite proud of himself and very dirty from going through a bog on route. We've had Sammy for just over a year - and he's the baby still and he's had a few names based on his characteristics and outlook on life - Sammy the Snout, Sammy Donut, Snappy Sammy, Super Sammy, Deputy Sammy, Sidekick Sammy, Smiler Sammy, The Sammy Express, Sammy Splashdown, to name a few. He's one great dog to go with our other great dog, Kiltie.

Big Words
We've recently rediscovered the joys of Scrabble. Our Scrabble heyday was the hot summer of 2003, when Al frequently trounced me before I dejectedly headed back to paint some part of the house. So now, we play a game an evening - and we are locked at 2-2, and our scores are higher than before. No theories just luck with the letters perhaps. Our soundtrack to our deep thinking has been Jose Gonzales' two seminal albums of acoustic introspection, his cover of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' and 'Killing for Love' being our respective favourites at the moment. Our big words tonight were gating (Al) and queers (me), and I bagged 39 for jabs - not bad for such a small word.

Let's Ride! Velo Vegans!
We did our first spring ride yesterday - only our second outside ride of 2008. The other was a freak warm day in January before the waves of snow arrived. So we headed out, in the 40's, heading towards Gorham, before turning off and going past scenic farmyards still covered in snow. We headed through Gorham and back towards home, a bit chilly but not to bad at all. We were gone for 1 hour and 20 minutes and we were pleased with our early season efforts. We can't wait for the warmer weather (60's & 70's are ideal). Indeed even Alex is looking forward to cycling in the warmer weather and is looking forward to cycling in South Carolina next month when she heads off there to visit her sister and family while taking her mom and dad with her who are visiting from Spain. It must be close to summer down there already? We must wait till June for real warmth....
